Dr. Gabriel Steg and Dr. C. Michael Gibson discuss the independent contribution of LDL, CRP and Lp(a) to cardiovascular risk including mortality.  

While Lp(a) was associated with Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events (MACE), it was not independently associated with all cause or CV mortality.

Ongoing trials will determine if lowering Lp(a) is causal in terms of improving outcomes.
